We found this on a buying trip 5 years ago in Australia. We stored the bus in Oz until last year. We sold the bus as soon as it landed to a family from Bristol. The van was original paint at the time though some areas had been touched up and the roof had been painted white to reflect the heat!! We are now happy to be selling the bus again as the owners plans have changed.The bus has had a repaint in the original dealer supplied paint from ’69!! This bus has had new window rubbers all round, new door seals. The 1600 motor was rebuilt in Oz byVW German factory trained technicians. The engine has only covered less than 5000 miles and drives unreal. The bus was owned from new and taken to Oz by a Royal Navy tool maker. To say the bus was treated well would be an understatement. This bus is a credit to the previous owner and I genuinely mean that, the family were very very sad to let “lady grey” go.The bus has had a 1 off disc brake set up on the front. it is a 69 model so a true early bay survivor. The interior is all original, it also has the provision to have the bed as a full width or 3/4 width bed. The original cool box is present. The original wardrobe is present. The only non original part is the cooker that should be sited behind the seat. Instead there is a floating twin ring burner with grill. The dash is the genuine factory painted one with no stereo ever having been installed. There is a cd player situated beneath the dash with speakers in the kick panels. This is a pure time warp bus with only the seating being re-trimmed by us in a deep red German vinyl. We have installed brand new silent gliss track and retro curtains. The roof has the original canvas in great working order as are the original hammocks. The roof glass has new seals and the opening sky lights and mechs are all new. if your looking for a RHD rust free bus this is it. The van is one of the best early bays in the u.k and the bus needs to be inspected to appreciate how original and solid the van is. Forget U.K buses welded with in an inch of their life this is original un messed with and a delight to drive..The van has been waxoyled, has new tyres on fresh powder coated wheels, all new rear brakes, new calipers, discs and pads. For security there is a cat 2 immobiliser installed.
