1985 Chevrolet Honey American RV Motorhome. I have had her for three years and spent nearly £3000 on making sure that she is sound for travelling, for camping and for music festivals. She is a beautiful piece of eighties americana with well serviced Chevy 454 V8 engine, hot and cold running water, serviced upgraded electrics, 240v hook up and on board generator, separate toilet//-sink and stand up shower. She has sailed through three MOTs in my possession, including just last week – with no advisories. Last year she had the steering link arms replaced, seven brand new tyres, regulated roof solar panel connected to two new leisure batteries, the electrics overhauled and upgraded, the roof resealed and and and… She has been kept in a barn and used lightly. Internally, she has two swivelling captains chairs at front, with a small swing down bed above the seats. In the rear is four diner-style seats with table between. This converts to a comfortable large double bed. There are plenty of 240v and 12v electric sockets inside. Water drains into an onboard grey water tank and the toilet has a black water tank, these empty directly into the drain. There is plenty of internal and external storage. There was a rock and roll sofa bed in the main cabin but I removed it. This leaves a good space that I use for temporary seating, baby cot etc or a sofa bed could be reinstalled cheaply enough. Externally, there is no rust as the bodywork is aluminium, with fibreglass front and rear panels. As you can see, she has uniquely beautiful classic american lines. She has awnings over each window to keep the sun out but I removed the main large awning seen in one of the pictures as it only covered the door and the kitchen window and got in the way when down. There is an additional three foot chequered platform on the rear on the RV that is great for carrying bikes, motorbikes, jet ski etc (this extends total length of vehicle to 27′ – a perfect balance between roominess and practicability as it fits virtually all caravan club sites). What you can’t see is the throaty exhaust note from the twin V8 down pipes – it turns heads and gets thumbs up wherever I go. The condition is commensurate with its age – a bit like me – looking good but with scrapes and dings here and there. It is well maintained though and has never let me down. This is the second time I have listed this RV, the first time was early last year when I was holding out for £10,000. I’m now starting the bidding at £7,000 with no reserve. When you consider how much a rusty, underpowered, unreliable VW combi splitscreen or bay window camper goes for, with non of the individuality, the style, the room, the comfort and the reliability of this Chevy, this is a steal.
